What is an Archetype?

When we observe these roles across different times and places, we notice striking similarities. Patterns emerge. From these recurring patterns, archetypes are extracted.

This is why myths worldwide feature similar figures: the wise elder, the sovereign, the guardian, the wanderer. A Way to Hear Yourself
I created The Mediterranean Cards because I love working with archetypes and wanted to make my own. I’d done years of inner work and these became the way to give form to what I was discovering. They’re not borrowed symbols, they’re how I understood the forces I was learning to recognize in myself.
I wanted them all to carry a specific feeling: calm, safe, like walking by the summer seaside. That quality of peace is something I know from the Mediterranean, and I wanted it woven into every card.
They are universal, anyone can use them. Once I saw these forces clearly, I knew they weren’t just mine. I made them so you could recognize yourself in them.
